Blois

The Loire Valley is occupied with some of the best Chateaux in the country. This is due to the fact that from the 15th to the 18th centuries high society, Kings and Queens lavished their money on this area which became "their playground". So fortunately for us today they have left a legacy rich in architecture.

Blois was their "capital" during this period. Unfortunately during the war it was heavily damaged but it sitll retains it's wonderful charm.

Amboise has fantastic views over the Loire Valley. Leonardo da Vinci came to Amboise in 1516 and later died here. He lived and worked in Le Clos Luce, the building still contains restored rooms and is open to the public.

Weather througout France is varied. Snow covers most parts of France during the winter months and finding accommodation in Alpine areas can be difficult. Spring is usually the best time to visit France as it has pleasant temperatures for sightseeing. During the summer months especially August would be a month to avoid if possible as this is when the French normally take their holidays and most resorts, beaches areas etc are booked out.
